For over 40 years, Genesis Women's Shelter & Support has been a lifeline for the bravest women in Dallas. Since opening their doors in 1985, Genesis has provided safety, shelter, and comprehensive support to more than 41,000 women and children escaping domestic abuse serving upwards of 3,000 individuals every single year.
Nationally, 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. In Texas, that number is 1 in 3. Genesis meets that crisis head-on offering emergency shelter, counseling, group therapy, legal support, advocacy, childcare, and a 24-hour helpline available in both English and Spanish. Every single service is completely free of charge and fully confidential.
What makes Genesis extraordinary is what they don't rely on: government funding. Not a single dollar.
